Ganesha
is the benevolent and benign god of wisdom and remover of all obstacles.
As the bestower of Siddhi, success, he is one of the most beloved
gods of the hindu pantheon, adored by his devotees in spite of his
elephant head and single tusk. Gentle, calm and propitious, he is
epitomizes prudence and is also a patron of literature. In the Vedas,
Ganesha began as Ganpati, lord of the Ganas, the group of minor
deities who serve the angry god Rudra. Originally the Ganas were
the turbulent hosts of Rudra and were usually involved to avoid
misfortune and ward off evil.
