How it looks�It is an evergreen woody shrub with pale grey or whitish bark. The leaves are bright green and the flowers are single, bright red and showy.

How we use it�
In
jaundice�Hibiscus flowers, neem leaves, keezhanelli leaves and white radish are made into a decoction (concentrated to 1/2 the volume) to relieve even acute cases of jaundice.
In
inflamed skin�For allergic or infective rashes hibiscus leaf juice/extract in paste acts as an effective topical wash.
In
urticaria�Grind red hibiscus flowers in water and apply over the swellings.
In Hair care�

1. Hibiscus leaf juice is good to wash hair with and is a popular ingredient of many hair care preparations.
- Removes excess oil
- Keeps lice at bay

2. Red hibiscus flowers partially dried and boiled in coconut oil make an excellent hair dye.
As a
cardiac tonic�A decoction of the flowers mixed in milk and sugar makes for an effective heart tonic, when taken on empty stomach.
