Ruchakayoga: Formed when Mars, exalted (in Makara) or in
its own sign (Mesha or Vrishchika), is located in a kendra from the lagna. This yoga cannot exist when the lagna is a Dwiswabhava rashi. It can
only occur when the lagna is a Chara or a Sthira rashi.
One born in Ruchaka yoga is good looking and handsome. He has a prominent face, beautiful
eyebrows, dark hair and a clear, somewhat darkish, complexion. He has a slim waist and slim lower limbs. Such a native is bold and courageous,
full of strength and vigour, and eager to pursue adventurous activities wherefrom lie earns name and fame. He has a royal bearing.
He is ever
intent on combat. He is the commander of an army or leader of a gang of thieves, busy undertaking rigorous physical exercise, and annihilator of
his opponents.
Ruchaka yoga confers on the native a capacity for discrimina- t ion. Such a native is devoted to elders, preceptors and Brahmins. I Ie is also versed in sacred hymns as well as magic
spells directed at his enemies for such pursuits as killing, fascinating, subjugating, detaching or creating ill-will.
He bears scars on his body from fire, injuries or surgical
operations. He lives happily to an age of seventy years when he leaves this world in the vicinity of a temple, suffering injury from fire or weapons.
Note:
Ruchaka yoga results from a predominant influence of Mars in the horoscope.
True to its nature, Mars instils into the native a capacity for valour, adventure and dominance, with
consequent proneness to physical suffering and injury. A strong Mars ensures immense physical strength and dominance in combat. It is necessary, however, that the apparent strength
of Mars in the birth chart persists in the vargas, particularly the navamsha, also. Otherwise, the results mentioned above may not fructify to the fullest extent.
