Ayurvedic Remedies for Hematuria – Natural Treatment for Blood in Urine

Effective Ayurvedic Herbs and Remedies for Hematuria

Ayurvedic Remedies for Hematuria – Natural Treatment for Blood in Urine

Hematuria, or the presence of blood in urine, is a symptom indicating an underlying issue in the urinary tract. According to Ayurveda, hematuria is categorized under a condition known as "Raktameha" or "Rakta Mootra", often caused by an imbalance in the Pitta dosha, which governs heat and metabolism in the body.

What is Hematuria?

Hematuria can be classified into two types – gross hematuria (visible blood in urine) and microscopic hematuria (blood detected only under a microscope). It can be accompanied by pain, burning sensation, fever, or frequent urination, depending on the cause.

Causes of Hematuria in Ayurveda

Ayurveda recognizes hematuria as the result of excess heat and toxins in the body, particularly within the urinary system. Some common causes include:

Urinary tract infections (UTI)
Kidney or bladder stones
Inflammation of the urinary tract
Excessive heat or Pitta aggravation
Injury to urinary tract organs
Excessive consumption of spicy, sour, or acidic foods

Ayurvedic View and Role of Doshas

Hematuria is primarily linked to aggravated Pitta dosha, which overheats and inflames the blood and urinary channels. Rakta dhatu (blood tissue) and Mootravaha srotas (urinary channels) are disturbed, leading to bleeding. Vata dosha may also contribute by creating movement and dryness.
