The Divine Life of Lord Krishna

According to Hindu tradition, Krishna was born in Mathura to Devaki and Vasudeva. His birth took place during a time of oppression under King Kansa. Vasudeva carried the infant Krishna across the Yamuna to Gokul, where He was raised by Nanda and Yashoda.

Krishna's childhood in Gokul and Vrindavan is filled with beautiful stories of divine play, affection and devotion. His childhood Leelas include stealing Makhan, playing His flute, protecting the people of Vrindavan and performing extraordinary divine acts.

Later, Krishna became a central figure in the Mahabharata and served as the charioteer and spiritual guide of Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra.

His dialogue with Arjuna became the Bhagavad Gita, one of the most important spiritual texts of Hindu philosophy.
